Trajekt Sports Announces its early adopting MLB team, The Chicago Cubs

TORONTO - Trajekt Sports Inc. (“Trajekt Sports”) is proud to announce its early adopting MLB team, the Chicago Cubs Baseball Club, LLC (“Chicago Cubs”).

In 2019, at the MLB Winter Meetings in San Diego, Trajekt Sports met with the Chicago Cubs to discuss leveraging the state-of-the-art pitching machine to replicate tracked pitches. Robert Basham, Special Assistant Innovation (formerly Director, Player Development) spearheaded the engagement to propel the organization’s leading technological development strategy to improve hitting.

In 2021, the Chicago Cubs leased the first-ever pitching robot capable of replicating human pitchers. The Trajekt Arc™ prototype (“T1”) was tested in Mesa, AZ at the Chicago Cubs spring training facility. Prospects stood in against the T1 with pitch sequencing designed to improve batter pitch recognition and plate discipline.

In 2022, after successful validation, the Chicago Cubs leased 3 units of Trajekt Sports' latest hardware, the Trajekt Arc™. The Chicago Cubs were the first team to have the training technology at multiple stadiums including their AAA and Major League stadium.

Usage and Benefits

  • In the 2022 season, the Chicago Cubs pitches over 6,500 pitches from the Trajekt Arc™ to batters pre-game with over 200 pitcher videos

  • MLB players have responded positively to tracking opposing pitcher’s arsenals before in-game at-bats

  • Coaches can implement training regimens that closely replicate the in-game experience, resulting in improved performance and confidence

As a leader in baseball technology, Trajekt Sports will continue developing innovative products for player development with the insights and feedback of the Chicago Cubs. Through this collaboration, the two organizations will continue working together to advance baseball player development.
